Thanksgiving Friday: Seven Thankful Things, vol. 11

It’s Friday! Sometimes I have to remind myself that Friday is not Saturday, because Friday is my day off; making Thursday my Friday. Confused?

Me too.

When Leanna asked me to be a contributor to the network of thankful bloggers, I was really excited. Here is her latest, along with links to the rest of the collective:

How are you feeling thankful today?

Today, I am thankful for:

1. Affordable blood sugar lowering meds

My doctor switched me to a not $$$ medicine to take along with my metformin. With those two meds and an aggressive bread, grain, and starchy veggie avoidant diet, we will get those numbers back in range.

2. Since April 15, I’ve lost 5 pounds!

Hooray. 🙂

3. This sentence: “I wish we could go to a movie tonight and sulk.”

Spoken by a good friend who lives far away when I was telling her about something that wasn’t working  out like I’d expected. So much pastoral care and space to process feels in those simple words. Thank you, dear friend.

4. And this sentence too: “don’t go bye bye.”

Spoken by my NieceyBear when story time was over and I was kissing her goodnight. It felt like re-instatement as her Tia after I inadvertently hurt her little feelings asking her not to drink the bath water at bath time.

5. Roomie time last night to chat at Panera

We pray for each other, and share what’s up, and hadn’t really caught up in about 2 weeks! So, that was a nice way to spend the evening.

6. Food Trucks

When I eat from a food truck, I feel like I’m eating street food in Latin America, which makes me feel at home and grounded – even though it’s rarely what I’d find in Brazil or Mexico. It feels right to eat from a food truck or cart. The best.

7. Corrective Eye Wear

I love my new glasses because I’m told they look good on me, and most importantly, because I can read and write without words blurring together and quitting before I even get started; I can see better to drive at night, and I haven’t had a headache that I can link back to eye strain in a long time!

Again, hooray.

Be thanful today, friends.

  1. Leanna Coyle-Carr

Yes to that movie & sulk thing. Works miracles on the disappointed spirit. 😉 Congrats on losing the 5 pounds; I know that feels good! I have been flirting with about a 3 pound loss (haha!) for a few months and even THAT feels good. ❤

P.S. I'm so thankful for your faithful participation in Seven Gratitudes. Makes my heart swell to see your thanksgivings each week–so authentic and bright!
