Lenten Reflections: Settle

Yesterday’s Lenten reflection word was “settle.”

Settle

A cup of steaming hot tea. A soft herbal tisane of hips, geranium, and marshmallow root; or a spicy kicking’ cinnamon-anise infusion.

A cozy spot on a comfy couch, wrapped in fleece and flanked by books, empty journal pages and pretentious pens.

Bare branches outside, perfectly framed by a centered window bordered and accentuated by teal and yellow.

The dust of life:

uncertainty
plan changes
daily agendas

Starts to settle as I enjoy the lifting ritual of a cup of hot tea.

A warm reminder to settle down and listen:
to God’s still, small voice,
to my own breath: in and out, in and out,
to daily cares and anxieties settle like dust glimmering in the sunlight as it falls to the floor,

weightless
airy
unburdened.
