Today is apparently National Aunt Day.
Had I but known, I’d have made a celebratory cheesecake in my honor as an aunt.
Instead, I shall write a note to Baby Tava on how much I love being her aunt.
About six months ago, you made me the happiest person in the world. “How can that be? ” You might ask.
Well, I’ll tell you. That day, I became an aunt. To be honest with you, I was very nervous. I didn’t even know how to be an aunt- truthfully, I wasn’t even real confident in my ability to hold a baby without its head popping off- much less be around one all the time.
But, a funny thing happened. When I held you for the first time, after your mommy and daddy and aunt Ana assured me that you wouldn’t fall apart, I wasn’t scared or nervous at all!
There was this feeling that came over me. Even though we had just met, I knew I had never loved anything or anyone like I loved you in that moment.
Ever since, I can’t get enough of you! I love being your Aunt Sara, and I can’t wait to continue having adventures with you.
I’ll take you to the American Girl store (please get Addy. I always wanted her, and Samantha). And I’ll take you to lunch sometimes and to movies when you get older.
You’re one of my favorite people, and I’m so thankful you are in my life.
I love you so so much! Thank you for making me an aunt. I hope I do a good job at it. I promise to do my very best.
