The next two posts are dedicated to friends of mine who are out to change the world, one step at a time.
When I first started High School, my family and I started attending a new church. We met many cool families and people, and I’ve kept many of those friendships through the years. One of those friends is Amanda Howard. Amanda and I share a love of missions, of Mexico and the City of Children and we have been friends for a long time.
Amanda very recently returned home from her missionary travels all over the globe, through the World Race and I’ve been inspired by her passion, by the causes God has captured her with and by her determination to follow God’s lead in this new chapter in her life.
My blog is multi-themed, but one of my themes is encouraging others to do their part to make the world a better place. My life cause is extreme poverty and I try to be consistently mindful of people who are less fortunate. I try to be respectful of my abundance and mindful of their lack when I eat, grocery/clothes shop, drive, etc.
Amanda has found a passion for modern-day slaves and is now deeply committed to fighting human trafficking through photography and art.
At one point during the World Race, Amanda was asking of God what she should do next with her life. Through a series of events, up to and including inheriting a non-profit organization, God revealed to her a passion for human rights, specifically concerning modern-day slavery, and tangible steps to become actively involved in fighting human trafficking.
ART for FREEDOM is a community of artists committed to sharing their ART as means of bringing FREEDOM and raise awareness for children that are at risk for human trafficking around the world.
All proceeds of purchased artwork will go towards Remember Nhu’s ministry that is helping to prevent children from being exposed to human trafficking and give them the opportunity to get grow up in a safe home that provides them with education, basic needs and trade skills that will let them live lives that are self sustainable for them bringing FREEDOM for generations to come.
Amanda is ART for FREEDOM’s featured artist and her work can be seen on the website at http://artforfreedom.zenfolio.com/
Her artwork is also being featured at Ten Bistro in Norcross, GA (http://www.tenlocalflavors.com)
Amanda is one of many friends of mine who work to raise awareness for such a prevalent problem in our world. She inspires me daily to embrace the passions and talents God has given me and join God in what God is doing in the world.
Seek good, not evil,
that you may live.
Then the Lord God Almighty will be with you,
just as you say he is.
Hate evil, love good;
maintain justice in the courts.
Perhaps the Lord God Almighty will have mercy
on the remnant of Joseph
