Getting Technical

A few people have asked me “were you really eating out that much?” or “How are you keeping track of how much you’re actually saving?”

Great questions, so here’s the deal. No, I didn’t really eat out that much before. I’ve made my budget for the year, still setting aside the regularly budgeted amount for eating out, coffee, ect and the amount I reserve for groceries.

At the end of each week, I take about 70% of my grocery money, and all of my eating out money (all in envelopes….go Dave Ramsey….) and put it in the compassion cash stash 🙂

At the end of the month, I will deposit all the cash into my account, write a check and send it off to the charity or cause of the month.

The idea behind this project was finding a tangible way to make the excuse I so often use “I’m just one person, what difference can I possibly make?” completely obsolete.

I said to a friend the other day “I know its not much, but I wanted to do SOMETHING”, to which she replied ” well, your not  much and someone else’s not much add up to a lot.”

    1. What a great idea Sara. I’ll be following. On another note, Brandon read his letter tonight about class at North Atlanta and he laughed out loud about the crab. He’s looking forward to it!

      1. Thanks for reading! I’m loving this project actually. Haha, I love teaching that class, and I’m glad Brandon will be joining us this year. Great bunch of kids we’ve got in there 🙂
