Hazel M is my sponsored child through World Vision. She lives in Costa Rica with her mother, father and brother. She is growing up in a poor rural community in the province of Guanacaste near the Nicaraguan border.
Hazel’s father works in agriculture, and her mother tends to their home. Hazel goes to school during the day and runs errands in the afternoon after finishing her homework.
Hazel’s family works very hard to make ends meet, but it is difficult for them. I’m very thankful for the blessing of being able to help Hazel’s community out with monthly donations that provide clean water and health care.
Hazel’s family eats rice, beans and plantains and occasionally some vegetables and chicken. So, this week, I will be eating rice, beans and plantains, as my soul collides with Hazel’s and the expanse separating us shrinks.
Hazel’s 10th birthday is this Friday! On Friday, I will be fasting and praying for Hazel and her family.
I invite you to join me in this day of prayer and fasting, if you are able, for fellow believers all over the world, or for your sponsored child if you have one. And please let me know how it goes for you!
